Celebrating Two Newly Certified AIDA 1 Freedivers From Manila

Another proud moment here in Panglao as we welcomed two AIDA 1 graduates all the way from Manila, Philippines. Their journey into freediving began with curiosity and excitement, and by the end of their course, they walked away with new skills, newfound confidence, and big smiles.

AIDA 1: The Perfect First Step Into Freediving

AIDA 1 is all about building a strong foundation — learning how the body responds to breath-hold, understanding basic safety, and getting comfortable in open water. For many, it’s their first real introduction to the ocean in a deeper, more intentional way.

These two students embraced everything with enthusiasm. From their very first breath-up drills to practicing proper finning technique, they showed patience, focus, and a genuine willingness to learn.

From Nerves to Confidence

What we love about teaching AIDA 1 is witnessing the transformation.
At the start, there’s always a mix of excitement and nervousness. But as soon as they start practicing and feel the rhythm of their breath, something shifts — the ocean stops feeling intimidating and starts feeling peaceful.

By the time we moved to the open-water portion, both students were noticeably more relaxed. They followed instructions well, took their time, and built confidence with every attempt. Seeing them hold their certificates afterward was a proud moment for all of us.

Why Panglao Is the Best Classroom

Panglao offers some of the most beginner-friendly conditions in the Philippines — calm waters, beautiful visibility, and an environment that instantly puts people at ease. Learning here gives first-timers a positive experience right from the start, making them excited to pursue freediving further.

At Deb Ocean Freediving, our goal is simple:
Teach safely, guide patiently, and make every student feel supported at every step.
